Grapevine Studies is a Bible Curriculum for ages 5 through adult.  There are several choices as to the course of study that you can choose from.  We were given the opportunity to try the New Testament Overview (Level 2, ages 8-10).

This study focuses on the New Testament characters and events in chronological order.  There’s no discussion of doctrine so this study can be used by people of different denominations.  There are opportunities to add doctrinal teaching as directed by the teacher/parent.  The study is designed to take one year to complete and consists of 42 lessons which can be completed in approximately 1 week’s time.  This is a unique study in that it uses “stick figuring” to reinforce the lessons.  Each lesson begins with reading a Bible passage, then pictures of the characters and events are drawn as stick figures.  Each lesson ends with a review and memory verse.

DH and the boys are enjoying this new approach of learning the Bible.  J, my non-artist, likes the stick figuring since it is easy and fun.  A is even trying her best in drawing stick figures too.  We like the ‘multi-sensory’ approach that Grapevine uses in this curriculum:  find the Bible passage, read aloud, draw the stick figures, make character and event cards, and memorize verses.  After completing five lessons over the last several weeks, we’ve  decided to complete this study as our Bible curriculum this school year since it has worked so well for us.  I’m impressed at how much better the kids are able to retain what they have learned as compared to their lessons taught in Sunday School.  We even recommended this curriculum to my mom, who will be using this for her church’s Sunday School classes!

You can view or download samples and purchase the curriculum at Grapevine Studies’ website.  Teacher books and Student books are available as hard copies or ebooks.  The prices are a little high (Teacher hard copy is $35.95, black & white, ebook is $22.95.  Student hard copy or ebook is $25.95.  Purchases for groups cost more).  But there is good news if you want to make a purchase:
