Curriculum
“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but the counsel of the Lord, it will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
Okay – this is the page I may need to do the most updates and changes and strikethroughs. I don’t know if any homeschooling family has found the “perfect” curriculum that works for all their children (if you know of anyone, I would love to meet and talk with them). I know we’re still looking and experimenting. Each year presents new challenges, so each year our curricula list will likely go through changes!
2010-2011
Last year our family was blessed to have been a part of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine’s Homeschool Crew. It was a great opportunity to review different products and try them in our homeschool. Our time with the Crew was a great experience, but we had to set aside our normal curricula in order to review the products. This year we are back to a more regular and routine schedule as far as curriculum goes. Routine is good – especially now that Awill officially start Kindergarten and will demand a lot of attention. There are a few items we reviewed last year that worked very well and will be a part of our school this year.
So without further ado, here’s what we will be using in 2010-2011:
- Bible: Sunday School assignments/review, Grapevine Studies
- Early Reading/Phonics/Grammar: Abeka
- Spelling: All About Spelling
- Reading/Creative Writing: Classic literature, Tapestry of Grace resources
- Math: Math-U-See
- Handwriting: Handwriting Without Tears
- Science: Apologia – General Science
- History, Geography: chronological study picking up from Fall of Rome, various Tapestry of Graceresources, library books.
- Art: Artistic Pursuits, Intro to Visual Arts
- Music: Faber & Faber Piano Adventures
- Spanish: Rosetta Stone, Level 2
- Keyboarding: Christian Keyboarding
- Extracurricular Activities: Scouts C - K4C soccer (fall & spring), J – WF baseball (fall) & SGAA baseball (spring), A – soccer or gymnastics (undecided).
